Akshay Kumar: New definition of comedy

akshay_kumarAkshay Kumar, a definition of comedy and action has become favorite star of millions of people. He has made his own identification and icon image. Akshay entered in Bollywood as an action hero and introduced the Hindi cinema with new styles of action and martial arts which was unknown to Hindi movie viewers. In starting of his career he did several hit action movies as Khiladi, Mohra, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Khiladion Ka Khiladi and got a nickname Khiladi.

Akshay Kumar was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. He spend his childhood in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk before shifting to Mumbai. He completed his study from Don Bosco School and Guru Nanak Khalsa College (King’s Circle). From his childhood he was dreamt to be an actor. He used to perform in school programs as a dancer.

After completion of his study he moved to Bangkok and learned martial arts and came back to Mumbai to start his career as a martial art trainer. Here He met a photographer who proposed him for modeling and gave him Rs. 5000 for two hour modeling show which motivated Akshay Kumar to change his career as a model. In 1990 he started his career as an actor in Bollywood. In 1991 he acted in Saugandh which was super hit movie of that year. Later he did more action movies like Khiladi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Mohara and make an image of action hero. From Yash Chopra’s Ye Dillagi he turned to romantic movies and played his role very well. And he got Filmfare Best Supported Actor Award for Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai for his romantic and emotional presence on the silver screen. He also got critical acclaim for his powerful performance in Sangharsh and Jaanwar which established him as a dedicated actor and best performer.

In 2000 he performed comic character in Hera Pheri and got new makeover of his acting. Later he did several comedy films including Awara Paagal Deewana, Mujhse Shadi Karogi, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Wlecome, Singh is King, and others. He also won his second Filmfare Award for Garam Masala. He is a producer also and produced several films with other directors and producers. He made Chandni Chowk to China with Warner Brothers which was a box office failure but it did not affect his star value in the Bollywood.

He worked as an anchor on Indian television. He anchored in Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi and Master Chef of India got success on tv industry also. In 2008, Akshay Kumar was honored by Honorary Doctorate of Law by the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada for his contribution to Indian Cinema. In 2009, he was awarded with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
